On Tuesday our Juniors 10-piece Brass ensemble joined forces with RCS Brass and Percussion departments to entertain over 400 young musicians from around Scotland as part of the annual Schools concert.

Thanks to John Logan, Head of Brass and Mark Reynolds, Brass Lecturer for the invitation, and to all the brass teachers from across Scotland for brining their brilliant students along.

Huge congratulations to Junior Conservatoire Music student, Oliver Barr on winning first prize in our internal Beethoven Piano Prize. Oliver will represent RCS at the Junior Intercollegiate Piano Competition in Birmingham later this year. Elliott Cassidy was a very worthy runner-up and adjudicator, Liivi Arder, gave insightful and encouraging feedback.

Celtic Connections is in full swing and this morning 9 of our Traditional Musicians had the opportunity to share the main stage at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall with the Kinnaris Quintet. They performed to over 1700 primary school children as part of Celtic Connections Schools’ Concerts.

The venue (and audience!) was bouncing; with plenty of dancing in the aisles and non-stop birlin’ in front of the stage!

Congratulations to all involved, a big thank you to the inspiring Kinnaris Quintet musicians, and to Celtic Connections for the invitation. 🎵🎻🪗🎹💫

RCS Traditional Music students, alongside students from our Junior Conservatoire and Dumfries House Strings Programme, had a fantastic day performing at a Tea Dance in Dumfries House for local elderly people on Monday.

This event served not only as a showcase of the talent within RCS but also of the relationship between the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Dumfries House, and the King's Foundation. Many congrats to all involved!

So excited for Junior Conservatoire student Oliver Hak! Well done Oliver! We are so proud of you.

We are happy to announce the names of the 42 pianists, who have been selected to take part in Aarhus International Piano Competition 2025 by the preselection jury.

We are looking forward to welcoming all 42 pianists to Aarhus and to give them an unforgettable experience as they make new friends with fellow pianists from around the globe, play concerts around Denmark, have photo shoots with a professional photographer, go to dinner parties, and compete for the attractive prizes.

Tonight we said a huge thank you and goodbye to the legend that is Alison Waller after 34 years of inspirational teaching at Junior Conservatoire. Alison leaves an astonishing legacy, having inspired and mentored generations of young clarinetists. Congratulations, dear Alison. We wish you a long and happy retirement; we will miss you so much! ❤️❤️

What a wonderfully joyous evening of music making! Congratulations to Junior Conservatoire Symphony Orchestra on delivering an outstanding concert of Festive Classics. Emily Barron played Glazunov’s Saxophone Concerto with spellbinding maturity whilst conductor, Donnie Deacon, inspired, guided and shaped the whole evening with authority and skill.
