Alexandra Hammond is Associate Director, Net Zero and Sustainable Procurement at NHS England, where she leads the team responsible for delivering a net zero Carbon Footprint Plus for the NHS. She was recognised in 2024 as being the 5th most influential woman in procurement by ‘Procurement Magazine’.

In 2020, the NHS became the world’s first national health system to commit to become ‘carbon net zero’. Carbon Footprint Plus includes the NHS’ wider supply chain, aiming for an 80% reduction in emissions by 2036-2039 and Net Zero by 2045.

Following the release of the ‘Delivering a Net Zero Report’, Alexandra has led the development and implementation of the NHS’ world-leading programme. She was instrumental in the publication of the Net Zero Supplier Roadmap for the NHS and works across the diverse and complex NHS supply chain to deliver net zero carbon, drive social value and eradicate modern slavery across the supply chain.

Still time to register for our hybrid MBA Guest Lecture and Business Soundbite taking place this Wednesday (4 December, 12:30-14:00 GMT) where you can meet our second speaker, Victor Riega.

Victor is a sustainability professional with over a decade of experience in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) issues. Currently, he works at Rathbones as a Responsible Business Integration Manager.

Victor began his sustainability career as an in-house professional at a UK insurer, tackling a wide array of ESG issues including ESG risk management, governance, and human rights, and reporting. His experience includes developing and implemented ESG approaches for financial institutions in banking, asset management, and specialty insurance.

He also has a background in law (practicing lawyer in Peru for more than five years) and public policy (two years as Policy Adviser at the UK Ministry of Justice). He also holds a LLM on Human Rights from Birkbeck University.

Last week, we welcomed back alumni from all over the globe at the KBS Alumni Summer School at the University of Kent. Some came in person, excited to revisit their old school and catch up with former classmates and lecturers, while others took part online. They were joined by some current students, staff and special guests of the businesses, alumni and academics that enabled us to put on this lifelong learning event once again.
