Been a BUSY week this week for the SERS team and students!
On Thursday, our final year undergraduate students presented their dissertation projects in the Student Thesis Conference to members of staff, and fellow first and second year undergraduate students!

Alongside student presentations, we had excellent key note talks from Ryan Carty and Stuart Williams, plus a super engaging employability fair in the afternoon with local sports businesses and teams chatting to students! Always a great day, plus pizza from Hut8 for lunch is always a bonus 🤩

Well done, and thank you to everyone involved!

Team Row4Cancer are the winners of the World’s Toughest Row 2024! 🎉🎉

After 37 days, 13 hours and 20 minutes at sea – a new world record almost two days ahead of the second placed crew – the four-man Dutch team arrived at Nelson’s Dockyard on 17 January, having produced an estimated 1.5 million oar strokes, with the individual members burning in excess of 5000 calories per day.

Congratulations to the team, and well done to SERS staff John, James, Megan, Chris, Alastair and Harry!

Ever wondered wondered what it's like to work with elite football players? 🤔 ⚽

Meet Kent PhD Student in Sport and Exercise Science, Zacharias (Zachi) Flore, who has spent the last few years of his PhD working with Bundesliga clubs Werder Bremen Frauenfußball and Hamburg1887.

Driven by a passion for athlete recovery, Zachi noticed a gap in evidence-based rehab protocols for players with lateral ankle sprains. So, he developed his own rehabilitation algorithm for use in professional clubs, which needed to be tested on a large scale, which is where his PhD comes in!

Our School of Sport and Exercise Science team has been hard at work assisting Gillingham Football Club with preseason testing for their SkyBet League Two campaign ⚽️

The team conducted comprehensive respiratory screenings, checking nasal flow, airway inflammation, and lung function to ensure the players are in top shape. This helps us pinpoint any areas needing extra attention to boost their respiratory health.
