Breeding Partners
Our breeding partners farm different systems across the UK to ensure that we can offer you a ram that will suit your system.
Two of our breeding partners who have very different systems is Thomas Hartley and Sam Edwards and you can hear more about their systems here: https://youtu.be/p5XL9uiLCoY

❗🐑 In-lamb breeding ewes for sale at Blackmoor Gate Market (Exmoor Farmers Livestock Auctions Ltd. )
All are in-lamb to Aberfield and have scanned aprox. 175% - lambing 2nd April.
This is a genuine flock dispersal due to ill health.
Multiple scanned ewes onto crops
Twin scanned ewes onto swedes and triplets onto the best quality silage at Southfield. Singles and the few lates back up to the hill block to enjoy the view. All crops measured and silage analysed; working to a detailed feed budget, matching stock requirements to the feed available is essential. Measure to manage 👍
🐑Nucleus ewes pregnancy scanned at Southfield this week. 🐑
Lots of lambs with an overall result of 191% with only 23 empty ewes from 1,063 scanned. Good results across the breed lines bar one Abertex group running with imported rams (jet lag!).
It’s going to be a busy three weeks in April with 1000 ewes holding to first cycle.
This is a strong result for an upland farm running a forage based system, so a big focus on ewe nutrition over the next two months.
Fit healthy nucleus ewes
Sweeper rams taken out at our nucleus flock and the ewes back up to the hill ground, looking fit and healthy on forage. Silage out in preparation for poorer weather.
Ewes move onto deferred grazing
Nucleus ewes mobbed up after 21 days in their tupping groups. Onto deferred grazing with raddled sweeper rams. All of the hill ground sub-divided with electric fences for block grazing with silage until early February. Ewes looking well.
Breeding Partner Meeting
We were delighted to host our Breeding Partners in the Borders earlier this week. Good discussion about innovation and forward planning.
Snow day in Hawick
