Founded in 1495, The University of Aberdeen is the third oldest University in Scotland. With a community of 120 nationalities and 14,500 students the University is ranked consistently among the world's top universities.
The University of Aberdeen Business School is a leading international provider of excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate education. Our base at the historic Kings College campus in Old Aberdeen consists of an international faculty of world-leading academics with strong professional links with the business community. The Business School is nationally and internationally renowned for its research in Energy and Environment, Finance and Governance, Work, Health and Wellbeing and Property Market Analysis.
Through our location in Aberdeen - a key international business centre - the University has forged contacts with global companies and boasts an impressive track record for employability, which means that our graduates are consistently among the most targeted in the UK by leading employers.
As well as producing graduates who are ready to hit the ground running in the workplace, we provide working executives who wish to enhance their career prospects access to academic expertise through our Aberdeen Executive Education Network, which is a unique network between academia and business that exists to help companies and individuals realise their potential.
The University is continuing to expand its range of online programmes, with our MBA (Global), MSc Finance and Online Study in Energy Economics and Finance programmes. These are available to study on a part-time basis, and offer working executives who wish to enhance their career prospects the opportunity to fit their studies around work.
In addition we provide a range of Professional Certificates, including our Digital Marketing for Business Professional Certificate, along with access to our full range of Postgraduate Degree Modules which run throughout the year. Our free executive seminars also provide an opportunity for working executives to learn from top academics and business leaders, who are Executive Fellows of the Business School. Our Executive Fellows are all practicing professionals in their own area of expertise (for example Strategy, Leadership, Finance etc) who work alongside the academic course team with the aim of bringing strategic, relevant and current business experience to the programme.
We recently opened a campus in Qatar, making it the first UK University to have a dedicated campus in the Gulf State offering mainstream degrees. The multi-million pound facility in Doha is a partnership between the University and the Al-Faleh Group for Educational and Academic Services (AFG) that offers business degrees to Qatari nationals and the country’s expatriate community.
With business degrees from UK universities in high demand, the University was invited to provide degrees in a bid to offer more citizens the opportunity to study without having to travel abroad - a key barrier to further study for many in Qatar, especially women. The University has initially offered two undergraduate courses - Business Management and Accountancy and Finance – and over the next four years the campus is expected to expand to include additional undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
Many of our Business School programmes are accredited by major professional bodies, and in the last year our MSc Accounting & Finance has been accredited by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), providing our graduates with a competitive advantage when it comes to their future career. We have also recently become members of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the world’s largest business education alliance, strengthening our links with institutions worldwide and opening up more opportunities for our students.
