Aberdeen University Amnesty International Society

Aberdeen University Amnesty International Society The official Amnesty International Society at the University of Aberdeen. Amnesty International was founded in 1961 out of a London barrister’s office.

It has now grown to a worldwide organisation spanning 150 countries and more than three million members. The founding principles remain the same, though: we are independent of any government, political party, economic interest or religion, and we always will be.

📍Ukraine

It has been three years since Russia’s full scale invasion of Ukraine. The aggression has led to dire humanitarian impacts and could be considered genocidal.

> Around 9940 people killed
> Up to 23455 wounded
> About 1,584,000 displaced

Justice of victims must be a global priority.

It’s time to elect a new committee again and it’s your chance to step up and take action for human rights! We will be holding our AGM on Tuesday 21st of March at 5:30pm at Union Brew on Campus! Even if you don’t want to run for a position yourself you can still vote and have a say in who will be our committee for next year.

We value our committee members equally and everyone has a chance to contribute and bring their ideas to the table. Joining a society committee will look great on your CV, will allow you to develop many new skills, enable you to complete a Silver or Gold STAR award and it will be recognised on your university enhanced transcript.

The positions in our committee are:
PRESIDENT
VICE PRESIDENT
SECRETARY
TREASURER
SOCIAL CONVENOR
CAMPAIGN OFFICER
PR OFFICER
OUTREACH/WELFARE OFFICER

All you have to do is send us a brief manifesto explaining what position you would like to run for, why you would like to run for it, why you would like to be part of a committee and why we should vote for you! The manifesto will have to be sent to our email address [email protected] by midnight on the 20th of March!

We are excited to see you all there! 💛🕯️
